A bidimensional transmission position sensitive avalanche chamber with sensitive area of 100×100 mm

has been developed. The electric field distribution inside the chamber is calculated. The properties of the detector are tested by operating the detector in flowing isobutylene gas at a pressure of 360 Pa and using
252
Cf spontaneous fission source. A time resolution of 280 ps (FWHM) and position resolutions of 3.7 mm in x-coordinated axis and 4 mm in y-coordinated axis are obtained.
