This paper describes matrix absorption enhancement effects of the thick target in energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF). Absorption correction methods(5—10mg/cm
2
) are studied especially for medium thick target. For analysis of hair sample
both the measurement of absorption correction coefficients and the determination of sensitivity factor using addition method are introduced. Quantitative analysis and computer program of medium thick samples are established. The relative deviation between different methods for most elements is found to be less than 5%.
