A portable nuclear spectrometry system is of low power consumption

small size and low cost

and so is the MCA(multi-channel pulse amplitude analyzer).In this paper

we report a core controller of an MCA

which uses an on-chip system chip C8051F340 microprocessor.Results of the performance test

with the detection circuit

are given.C8051F340 is of high performance

and high performance MCA for a portable nuclear spectrometry system can be achieved by combining a C8051F340 with corresponding peripheral circuits and signal conditioning circuits.
