In order to extend service life of the main shaft bearing of turbine engines
GCr15 and M50 steel samples and bearings were implanted with 100 keV N and Ti ions. Properties of the implanted samples were determined. The results show that the friction coefficient
wear resistance
corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance are enormously improved by the N + Ti ions implantation. Implantation uniformity of the balls
rollers and rings of the bearing is over 87%. The implanted bearing has stood the proof by the production enterprise.
