并已开始被研究第四纪、新构造和环境变化等方面的国内学者所接受。但是
目前给出的ESR年龄的可靠性有多大、与真实年龄之间有多大的差异等仍属未知。目前ESR测定沉积物年龄仍是一种未完全成熟的测年方法。
Laboratory experiments and detailed investigations of quartz from sediments indicate that it is
in principle
possible to date the last bleaching time of sediments. This paper gives a brief review on ESR dating of sediments. Considerable study has been directed at ESR dating of optically- bleached quartz in sediments. Quartz ESR signals have a remarkably complex response to light exposure. Good results have been obtained using the Al
E and Ge centers. The age range of ESR dating of sediments is much longer than 2 million years. But ESR dating of sediments is still not a very reliable technique till now.
