Background: The supporting capacity of embedment plates in AP1000 nuclear power plant is obtained by finite analysis method
and the effect of concrete should be taken into consideration.Purpose: The interaction coefficients between embedment and concrete will be studied in this paper.Methods: The theory of elasticity for load distributed over a part of the boundary of a semi-infinite solid and method for anchoring design in nuclear safety concrete structures code ACI 349 are used to proceed with the study.Results: The formulas for interaction coefficients between embedment and concrete were deduced.Conclusions: The study findings can be used for other similar situations and it makes a theoretical foundation for AP1000 nuclear power plant embedment finite element analysis.
